SUNDAY SRF SERVICES
11 am -12 noon
The Readings Service includes periods of prayer, chanting, readings and meditation. The readings include quotes from the New Testament and the Bhagavad Gita with interpretations by Paramahansa Yogananda. The main reading is from Yogananda's writings.
The Group Meditation Service includes periods of prayer, chanting and silent meditation. Paramahansa Yogananda emphasized that the united devotion and concentration of many yoga devotees can powerfully increase the depth of each individual's meditation. Meditation Services provide opportunities to practice the methods of concentration and meditation taught in the Self-Realization Fellowship Lessons.
"Group meditation is a castle that protects the new spiritual aspirants as well as the veteran meditators. Meditating together increases the degree of Self-realization of each member of the group by the law of invisible vibratory exchange of group magnetism". — Paramahansa Yogananda
Usually we start with the Energization Exercises. After a very short inspiration reading and the opening chant we start the meditation. All are welcome.
6:30 - 7:00 pm
The Chapel is open for Individual Meditation.
7 - 8 pm
Thursday Inspirational Service offers members an opportunity to share in a fellowship of meditation and inspiration at the point in the week's activities when they may be most in need of it. Paramahansa Yogananda considered Thursday evening an especially favourable time for holding devotional weekly services. The service provides devotees with inspiration from the writings of Paramahansa Yogananda or his close disciples.
Healing and the Worldwide Prayer Circle Service
8:00 - 8:15 pm
At the end of Thursday Inspirational Service we pray for the physical, mental and spiritual healing of others and for world peace and harmony. We practice the spiritual healing technique taught by Paramahansa Yogananda.
For a full description of this technique, please see Worldwide Prayer Circle booklet.
This service is immediately after the Inspirational Service.
